Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 15-19Verses 20-23

REWARDS OF THE RIGHTEOUS, EARLY-RISERS.
VERSE NO.15-19
Now the immediate reference is to the righteous and early riser faithfuls, comparing them with the aforesaid unbelievers:-
``Verily the righteous will be in the Garden of bliss, watered by springs.''
By gardens here the known Paradise is meant, which beneath its trees streams are flowing streams that are gushing out of springs, and create the highest satisfaction and bliss for the dwellers therein.
That is a part of the rewards of the righteous who slept a little of the night. They were up before dawn to pray for God's forgiveness and Mercy. They were also anxious for their fellow -creatures who were destitute and so they had alloted a share of their wealth and what they earned to the poor and needy .
By the end of night, when people are full asleep; and every thing is calm and quiet, they slowly get out of their bed to perform the mid-night prayers, through which they ask forgiveness and salvation for themselves and for other people too. In the morning, when they attend to their routine works and regular course of bussiness, they are anxious for the poor and needy in their society, and therefore they allot a portion of their wealth or earnings for the indigents whether they ask or not.

As to the real meaning of the verse(No.17), we aught to know that it is an equivocal saying, which is capable of being understood in two or more possible senses.
Translators usually translate it as we have already done; but Hazrat Imam Jaafar Sadeq (AS), has understood it with another sense of meaning which is as follows:-
``There were only few nights in their life which they failed to wake up in time, and perform their mid-night prayers.''
They also know themselves responsible for the poor and needy, and therefore they alloted a share of their wealth to them.
