Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
verse 13Verses 1-4

DON'T BEFRIEND A PEOPLE ON WHOM ALLAH IS WRATHFUL
VERSE NO. 13
This chapter begins with cutting relations with the enemies of God, and ends in the same matter too. The ending here, returns once again to the theme of chapter, which is not to befriend the enemies of God and His religion. Various aspects of this matter have been explained, and finally the argument has been rounded off through the above verse:-
``O, you who have believed! Do not befriend a people against whom Allah is wrathful.''
The unbelievers do not believe in a future life, and have no hope in the Hereafter; so much so that, they have no hope for those buried in the graves to revive.
So they fallow in the sins, and live in an animal satisfaction in some mode of life, and sometimes flounder in luxury and love for money for having no interest or hope beyond this perishable life. So have they incurred the wrath of God in their miserable life.
To which people the immediate reference of the above verse might be? Some commentators are of opinion that they were the Jews of Medina for whom some of the poor and needy Moslims spied.
