THE ROLE OF THE HYPOCRITES
VERSE NO. 11-14
Some expounders of QurÌn have understood that the above passage was revealed before the surrender of the Jews of Bani-Nazir;and are counted among the miraculous predictions of QurÌn.
The prophet is addressed here that:-
``Did you not see the hypocrites saying to their unbeliever brothers of the People of the Book; `If you be expelled, we too will come out with you and if ...''
In their secret military treaty, they promised the Jews, not to leave them alone if they were exiled-neither to follow a command if it was to be issued against them-and to fight side by side, with them if they were attacked by the Moslims.
Such were the promises and ties that were woven by the enemies of the Messenger of God, but Allah testified that they were liars! Later, QurÌn's prediction was proved to be true.
The hypocrites of Medina and their leader, ABDULLAH-IBN-ABI, had assured the Jews of Bani-Nazir of their support in any case caused by Moslims. But even in the most emergency cases, they did nothing for their poor allies!
Even if they had taken a part against Moslims in that siege, their insincere help would be useless. The utter discipline, real fidelity and firm faith of Moslims would leave no room for any support to be effective on hindering Moslims or rescuing the Jews. Therefore, they never gave a finger to the Jews nor did they intend to do anything for them. This is the fate of those who trust unbelievers and rely on hypocrites.
Although they were supposed to be united allies, neither the Jews trusted the hypocrites, nor the double dealers were apt to be sincere to any one. Hypocrites, Jews, Idolaters were three groups that opposed the Emigrants, Helpers and Followers. The enemies of our prophet showed a strong spirit of warriors among themselves, but they dared not to proceed on a collective battle for not having a valuable cause to fight for. QORAISH considered themselves the absolute and natural sovereign of Arabia. Jews wanted to establish their racial superiority over all Arabs. ABDULLAH-IBN-ABI, the leader of the hypocrites, knew the kingship of Medina his own deserved RIGHT; and Mohammad (SA) to him was no more than a rival. On the other hand, Moslims had their cause of truth, unity, faith and spiritual and physical progress under the leadership of the Messenger of God. Thus the end of all the rivals and enemies, were clear and could be predicted by any man of understanding and wisdom.
