PROPHET'S POSITION CONFIRMED
VERSE NO.8-10
Although the Peace Treaty of Hudaybeyeh was criticised by several converts, and particularly the hypocrites who considered themselves to be in the frontier line; yet it definitely served to confirm the position of our prophet as the Messenger of God throughout the Arabian Peninsula. So in the above verses that were revealed after the said peace treaty, the position of the prophet was strongly confirmed, and anounced as a witness, a warner, and a bearer of good news.
In the above verse (NO.8), we see our prophet in three important positions, namely:-
1-As a witness to mankind who has direct cognition of the measure of our faith in his mission, and testifies on that.
2-As a bearer of Glad-tidings of God's especial favours to those who repented and tried to correct their wrongs and misdeeds.
3-As a Warner who informs the sinners, of the evil consequences of their sins.
In the next verse, there are five instructions with regards to God, and His Messenger; two of which are to believe in God and sanctify Him morning and evening. The other three commands are to have faith in the truthfulness of the prophet, and to support, and to esteem and venerate him.
In Hudaybeyeh controversy, when it was rumoured that the prophet's envoy (OTHMAN) was slayed in Mecca by the heathens, there was a wave of zeal in the camp of believers, and almost all of them with great enthusiasm, swore an oath of fealty to the prophet. This allegiance was a very great and sincere demonstration of physical and spiritual power, which was a great victory in its very self. That oath of fealty pleased Allah and His Messenger and in the history of Islam remained with the title of, ``Fealty of God's pleasure''.
Although the believers placed their hand of union in the hand of the prophet, but Allah's hand was above them, and it was a direct covenant with God.
