EVIDENT VICTORY
VERSE NO.1
This chapter begins with a great glad tiding of an evident and glorious victory promised to the prophet. Here the immediate reference is to the TREATY OF HUDAYBEYEH, through which Islam was recognized by Meccans as an equal power with themselves. In fact, the treaty was a prelude which soon after opened door to the conquest of KHAIBAR and then the conquest of Mecca by Moslims, and then to Arabian peninsula, Persian kingdom, and Roman Empire!

HUDAYBEYEH, PEACE TREATY
In the month ZIQAADEH-6 A.H. the prophet decided to perform the rites of the Lesser Pilgrimage called UMREH.
A congregation of 14 hundred Moslims all in pilgrim's garb, followed the prophet from here and there, in town, villages and deserts.
When they reached Asfan, a place near Mecca, the prophet was informed that, Meccans have decided against all traditions and usages of Arabs to prevent Moslims from the performance of the rites of HAJJ, or even entering the sacred town of Mecca!
They came out in armed troops to fight the unarmed Moslims.
The prophet turned a little to the west of the road and encamped in a plain, 20Km to the north of Mecca. The place was named HUDAYBEYEH for either a famous tree, or a water well which was there. When the prophet saw GHORAISH'S mobilization and armed forces, he said:-
``WOE BE TO GHORAISH! War has eaten these people! Why don't they leave me free to deal with the rest of Arabs? If they defeated me, Ghoraish would obtain their goals without any loss! Upon my God, I will fight for the cause of Allah so long as I am alive-either to win or to die on it.''
Envoys and ministers were sent to both parties from each side to discuss the matter, and finally a peace treaty was concluded which is known as the Treaty of Hudaybeyeh.
Both parties agreed that:
1-There would be peace between them for ten years.
2-Any tribe or any person was free to join either of the two parties, or make an alliance with them.
3-If a person from Mecca, who was under the guardianship of someone, should join Moslims without his guardian's permission, he or she should be returned back to his guardian, but in contrary cases, they should not be sent back.
4-The prophet and his followers should not enter Mecca that very year; but they could enter the sacred town unarmed next year.
Then Meccans had to go out of the town for three days, leaving the town for the pilgrims to perform the rites as they would. Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) wrote the peace treaty and the prophet sealed it.
Then as per order of the prophet, the marked camels were sacrificed, Moslims had their hairs cut, and they took out their garbs. They returned to Medina sad and sorrowful, because most of them could not apprehend the importance of their peace treaty.
For a relatively long period, there was a hot dispute between faithful Muslims and the stirring hypocrites and some agitators, but soon after the glorious consequence of the Hudaybeyeh Treaty appeared.
