Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 4-6Verses 7-10

THE MOST ASTRAY PEOPLE
VERSE NO.4-6
The prophet is wanted here to ask the worshippers of the false gods:- ``What on earth have their gods created, or what kind of a partnership do they have in the heavens. Have they created the sun or the moon, or even a piece of stone? Can they affect the least, upon the works of these celestial bodies? Do you have any warrant, or traces of knowledge to worship something or someone who is unaware of your services? Those who fall into false worship because it was an ancestral custom, and do not think of what they are thoughtlessly doing, are asked a few questions to answer:
Do you not see the form and feature of your idols that you worship besides God? Or have any connection with your deified dead men that you call upon them apart from Allah? Do they really answer you at all, or are they even aware that you worship them? Are you sure, or you deceive yourself?
Have the false gods, and generally any falsehood created anything, or do they have any power to affect some of the phenomena in the heavens or earth?
Is it right to worship a false thing without any authorization which is not supported by a Divine Book or at least by traces of knowledge and wisdom. Does this not break down the value of Man to bow down before a lord which he has created it with his own hands-based on his wrong suppositions and false conjectures!? Is this not a shameful sort of worship for a man to be at the service of some senseless stock and stones, which are not even aware of such services? Who can then be more astray from such group of worshippers?
