VERSE NO. 5-9
For a preaching to be effective, there must be readiness and interest in the audience. There is no use to advise or warn obstinate and arrogant people, because the advices may harden their heart and increase their resistence and flight. So the unbelieving sinners were callous to Noah's warnings, and took it for a reproach. Therefore, the Arch prophet's advices added nothing to his people except flight,and resistance. Their hearts were sealed, and they did not want to hear of a guidance, or a new way of life. When Noah preached them they thrust their fingers into their ears! What can the fate of such a people be, except utter loss and perdition?
