Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 6-12Verses 13-19

O,MEN!WHY ARE YOU SO HAUGHTY?
VERSE NO. 6-12
The Gracious Creator Who created, formed and fashioned Man, and His Lordship supported him, and His Guidance undertook Man's training and improvement. He Who bestowed on Man uncountable number of material and spiritual blessings without expecting a reward or repayment. He who forgives and overlooks most of Man's mistakes, and rewards them tenfold for every one good deed that they do! And He who guides them to the right way of prosperity and salvation. Should such a Man be bold, haughty and ungrateful, before such a Merciful God!
``O, Man! What has made you so haughty to your Gracious Lord!''
The Grace of the Merciful God, and His constant watchful care for all His creatures, deserve the most sincere thanks giving of Man, particularly when he sees how He created us out of not a thing worth of a mention. Then, He formed and symmetrized us by His will which is formed from perfect knowledge, wisdom and goodness.
The Arabic,``KARIM''translated to, ``GRACIOUS'' has other shades of meaning too;such as beneficient,Kind,Graceful, and etc.He is KARIM for granting what he is obliged to grant and what he is not obliged to grant.Or because Karim pays a lot for a little. All the translations, exist in the very essence of the term that is attributed to God as the,`` MOST GRACIOUS''.
In relation to the verse (NO. 6 above) Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) has a saying, the abstract of which is as follows:-
``O, Man! What has seduced you to stand against your Gracious God; and what has satisfied you with your own ruin? Is there no cure for your aliment, or is there no awaking from your sleep?! You do feel sympathy for those who are afflicted, or even exposed to the heat of the sun! What has made you patient over your own afflictions?
You will have to cure the disease of languor which is in your heart by determination, and remedy the sleep of negligence in your eyes by wakefulness.
Be obedient to Allah and love Him and forget Him not. Allah is calling you to forgive you your sins, and to blot out your faults, with His kindness. But you are fleeing away from Him towards the others.''
