Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 9-12Verses 13-17

WHERE ARE HEARING EARS
VERSE NO. 9-12
Here, an immediate reference is made to those people whose sins have destroyed them; such as the people of Noah, AD Thamud. Also the people Sodom and Gomorrah and Pharaoh and his folk.
All the above referees have resisted against their prophet and disobeyed their Lord; and all ended in their annihilation, which is a good lesson for other people after them.
In other word;Pharaoh and his folk were arrogantly proud, and they obstinately rejected and belied Moses, the Arch Prophet of God; and so their fall extended to Egyptian's long dynasty and people.
In the above chronological sequence (ORDER OF TIME), Pharaoh is mentioned last; but we know that he was contemporary to Moses, and all the other people who have been mentioned above being destroyed by their sins, such as the people of Noah, AD and Thamud, lived before Pharaoh; and hence the verse:-
``Likewise, Pharaoh and those who were before him...''
The above referees are said to have been a memorial for all times, to show that the evil meets with evil, and the good with good.
