Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 36-41Verses 42-44

FOR WHAT YOU EXPECT PARADISE?
VERSE NO. 36-41
When the prophet rehearsed the verses about the life to come to the non-believers of Qoraish, they said:-
``If that is true, our situation in the Hereafter will be better than the poor believers that are around Mohammad; as it is already better in the present world!''
The Pagan Arabs did not believe in the resurrection, but they sometimes discussed it as a topic among probilities. Here, is an answer for them and those who ridiculed the idea. God says:-
``We have created you out of what you know it, and We are able to replace you with a people who are better than you.''
The body of Man which begins as a worthless drop sperm, and then a collection of material elements form into an animal body, although wonderful a work and project, it has nothing to be proud of,particularly when we see it very soon decayed and decomposed in the grave.
It is therefore, Man's spiritual efforts, and gradual progress which forms into a mysterious and immortal being, who can think, learn, understand, memorize and decide wisely and logically, as the vicegerent of God on the earth; which is important, and for which Man can be proud!
East and West have been cited in Quran, in singular, dual and plural forms and numbers; all of which refer to certain points in the course of sun rise and sun set. This is because every day the sun has a new piont of rise and set. Therefore, we may have 365 Easts and 365 Wests in a year, of which two are very distinguished among all. One at the beginning of the winter in which the sun is very far from us, and the other at the beginning of summer when the sun is most near to us.
When East and West are mentioned in the singular form, the reference is to the kind, or generic and specific quality and characteristics of the two famous points.
