Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 31- 37Verses 38-40

O, SINNERS! NO WAY TO ESCAPE.
VERSE NO.31-37
In the aforesaid passage, we were informed of the ill end of the unbelievers and sinners. Now we come to learn something about the opposite party, who were not astray:-
``And the Paradise shall be brought near for those who avoided evil.''
Remarkable is that, the pious are not said to have been taken to Paradise! It rather is the Paradise which is brought near to the pious! This is because in the life to come, conditions differ from here.
There in the Paradise they will have whatever they desire; and more, is with God, of the thing that no eye have ever seen, no ear ever heard, and no thought yet apprehended!
Contrary to this physical world, in the life to come the ideals of the heart are not far from access, and they easily will be realised. But that fortune is the fruit of faith and righteous deeds here.
The righteous are those who have avoided evil deeds by sincere repentance, and their love and reverence for God.
There is a pause here, and then the reference is made to the sinners and their evil end:-
``And how many a generation that we destroyed before them, who had more power and facilities; but when God's justice fell upon them they had no way to escape the punishment .'' So the end of sinning is very different and we may know their end by reading their story and history - Generation before us, with much more power and wealth were utterly destroyed in a short time, and none of them could escape their miserable fate. And yet they will have to suffer more in the hereafter.
