THE FEALTY OF PLEASURE
VERSE NO.18-19
In the event of Hudaybeyeh, ministers were exchanged between the prophet and Qoraish, among whom was OSMAN-IBN-AFFAN, the later third Khalif of Islam.
The prophet sent him to discuss their problem with Qoraish, and to convince them that Moslims had come in peace, and only to perform the rites of HAJJ. Soon after, a rumour spread that the idolaters had killed OSMAN!
Then the prophet said, if the bad news is true and they have really slayed OSMAN, I will not move from here, until I wage a war against these idolaters.
After that, the prophet sat under a tree which was there, and renewed his allegiance with his followers. All of those who were present took the oath of fealty with the Messenger of God, and took it so sincerely that Allah declared through his prophet that, he was very pleased with their allegiance for its fidelity and faithfulness:-
``Verily Allah was pleased with the believers, when they took the oath of fealty with you under the Tree (in Hodaybeyeh), that He knew what was in their hearts, and sent down tranquillity upon them, and rewarded them with a near victory.''
