IMPROPER AND ABASING PEACE
VERSE NO.35
The new converts who were weaker in faith, sued for peace, and this was when Muslims had gained the upper hand in the battle-field, and the enemy was about to be defeated:-
``Do not be frail, nor sue for peace, now that you have gained a higher position in the war. Allah is with you and He will never lower the good results of your works.''
Of course, peace is better in the sight of Islam, but not a debasing peace. Now that you have reached the signs of victory, while your enemy came no short; peace is no more than failure and retreat; and a retreat is not a rational peace. The question for a believer is not that of peace or war, loss or gain. God must prevail or Satan? That is the question for a truthful Moslim.
