Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 34-41Verses 42-46

THOSE WHO KEEP ALOOF OF CAPRICES
VERSE NO. 34-41
The argument about Resurrection and Final Judgement still continues:-
``Man shall remember in Resurrection Day what he strove for.''
In that court justice and wisdom, people shall be sorted out according to their eternal values. The fruits of their deeds will be put before them. Then, it will be too late to seek a remedy, because if they repend, there is no way to return and amend. If they beg pardon, it won't be excused. The sinner can do nothing except biting his hand by regret and sorrow. He will remember his past conduct and perspire by shame.
The above passage ends in a parralel contrast: Those who wittingly insisted upon rejection of God and His signs, and who disregarded his law and commandments and preferred this fleeting material life over the eternal life to come, their destination is Hell.
Those who avoided evil for the sake of God, and restrained their vain desires and caprices, they will live in the Paradise.

POSITION OF THE LORD
In the verse No.40 of the current chapter, it says:-
``And he who feared the POSITION=MAGHAM, of his Lord...'' It does not say:-``He who feared his Lord.''
The Arabic,``MAGHAM'', translated to, ``POSITION'' has other shades of meaning too. It may also be translated to Lord's presence, rank, place or His Justice.
Some commentators have construed it to mean God's knowledge of Protection. They refer to a tradition that is narrated from Hazrat Imam Ali(AS), saying:-
``He who knows that Allah sees and hears him, and He knows well whatever they do, good or bad; and to this effect keeps aloof of evil, then, it is he who fears the MAGHAM of his Lord.''
