Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 26-28Verses 1-6

THE VICIOUS PEOPLE SHOULD GO.
VERSE NO. 26-28
Noah's complaint still continues, saying:-
``My Lord! Do not leave upon the earth any one of the unbelievers.''
He said so when he completely lost hope of any one of his people to repent or return.
He then gives reason for his curse, telling his Lord:-
``If you leave them alive, they will mislead your servants, and beget none except unbelieving sinners.''
The above reasoning proves that, the prayer of Noah was not vindictive and disposed to revenge. He rather wished to cut off the roots of sin.
Before his prayer, God had informed Noah that ``No body else from among your people will believe (S-11:36).''
After all, Noah had preached his stubborn people for more than nine hundred years, and no one from among them had answered him! He therefore had every right to abandon to despair and want to get rid of those who could corrupt the few believers that he had guided. The reasoning will also prove that God's punishment is based on wisedom, and it is always for the benefit of Man's community.
