Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
verses 32-34verse 35

ALLAH FORGIVES NOT THOSE WHO DIE UNBELIEVERS
VERSE NO.32-34
Now the argument is about another group of the heathens who lived among the polytheists of Mecca, or the Jews who denied Islam. Both parties are qualified here with being blasphemous, debarring people from the way of God; and enmity with the prophet.
Then the immediate reference is to the believers who do have some short-comings in obeying the Messenger of God; which could render their good deeds ineffective:-
``O, you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and do not nullify your deeds!''
Those who disbelieved after the truth and guidance was made clear to them, they have yielded their soul to Satanic deceptions, the result of which is failure of whatever they do! They could never cause a loss or an injury to Allah or His General Plan, or to God's Messenger. On the contrary, Allah rendered all their efforts ineffective and nullified their deeds, and their end is eternal deprivation of God's Grace in an abode made of fire.
There are several weak points that will nullify even the believers good deeds:-
1-To boast or remind someone of a favour that you may have done. This must be pure for the sake of God:-
``O, you who believe! Do not mar your alms-giving with a reminder of your generosity, or with an injury; such as him who spends his wealth for showing to people, and does not believe in Allah and the last Day.
QURAN-S2:264
2-Self-conceit, which is an overweening opinion of one's own power or generosity.
3-Jealousy
4-Losing faith
