Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 06)
Verses 10-13Verse 14

A UNIQUE BARGAIN
VERSE NO. 10-13
The theme of this chapter is calling to faith and strive(JIHAD):-
``O, you who have believed! Shall I lead you to trade that will save you from painful torments?''
Although faith and strive are two commandments that are incumbent upon the Moslims; here it has been propounded in the form of a profitable trade.
Without any doubt, to be saved from a painful torment is a thing desired by every one. Here a wonderful bargain has been proposed to those who have believed, in order to save them from painful torments.
What they will have to give in this transaction is to believe in Allah and His Messenger, and to strive in the way of Allah by their properties and persons. That which they are promised to gain in return is God's forgiveness, admission to Paradise, and living eternally in the beautiful mansions annexed to fruitful gardens, that are watered by streams.
As to what the, ``NEARBY VICTORY'' in the verse No. 13 may mean; some commentators have understood it to be the conquest of Mecca. Others have known it to be the conquest of Iranian Kingdom or Roman Empire.
In the sight of Hazrat Imam Ali(AS), this material world is not to be despised or repudiate because for the Godly and truthful believers, it is an important capital and good commercial firm, by which one may earn Paradise and Eternal Prosperity.
