VERSE NO. 150

The pagan's disbelief in the oneness of God, and also in the life to come, and in the prophet hood and inspiration, are a part of their general supersitious method and motives that are all baseless, and raised from their ignorance. Such superstitions they hold are in no way useful, and in most cases are harmful and debasing too. They have neither knowledge to prove what they hold, nor any proof to support it. Therefore their judgement is wrong and their decrees vain or harmful and in its best unjust!

To give a logical form or official nature to their false ideas, they have tried to join it somehow to the Supreme Lord and to use His sacred name to support their baseless ideas, and of course in vain! To prove this, the verse instructs the prophet to say to them:

``Then bring your witnesses who will testify that Allah has forbidden this or enjoined that ....''

The ending of the verse implies that Allah exhorts His Messenger to assert himself and insist upon his assertion, which are all truth:

``And do not follow the caprices of those who falsify our verses and those who believe not in the life to come, and set equals with their Lord.''
