KNOWING THE HIDDEN (VERSE NO.50)

The heathens had strange and extraordinary demands and expectations from the Messenger of God. They asked for unreasonable miracles; that, the prophet should have a house constructed of gold and silver! They wanted him to bring down the angels and walk with them in the market and eat with them on the table! They requested him to change the hot and dry Arabian desert, into fertile land with many fruitful gardens, watered by flowing rivers. They expected him to know all that was hidden and to see all that was unseen! They wanted him to know the infinite future and all the limitless past! They expected the Messenger of God to act among them as a vulgar soothsayer, who pretends to reveal and discover the hidden treasures of the land!

The verse therefore seeks to introduce to man, the Messenger of God as he really is or as he should be: ``They are of the same flesh and blood as other men are.''They are not angels in order to abstain from food and drink, or not to walk in the street. They are not the storekeepers of God's infinite treasures, but they themselves are the treasures of some of the knowledge and secrets of God. They cannot know the hidden or see the unseen, unless God through His angels teaches them a matter, and informs them of the unseen to some extent. On the other hand; they do have greater insight into the higher things. They do have greater wisdom than any other wise man, but their extensive insight is not due to their own wisdom. That insight is inspired to them from God, either directly, or indirectly through God's angels. Therefore the sublimity of their words and the superiority of their teachings arises through God's Grace. They are men like the other men, but far different in insight and wisdom, in knowledge and clear perception of truth. So no one should compare the seeing men of God, and God's apostles, with the ordinary men who are not unlike to blinds, in this comparison. Due to such high and Divine attributes, the prophets are entitled to every respect, and to all reverences.

God has decreed that His apostles should be followed as example, and should be obeyed as leaders by all the other men.
