VERSE NO. 60

This verse implies that God's power and knowledge, encompasses and surrounds all the creatures, as well as man, whose life and death is subjected to the universal laws and plans of the creator, like the rest. Here in particular, mention is made of man's life and death which is mysteriously connected to sleep, that it is sometimes called the twine brother of death!

Our sleep in this verse, is introduced as a work of God, in which he takes our souls up to him when we are asleep. He holds our souls as well as a record of our deeds that which we have done during our day. So it might be that our dreams, and what we see in our night sleep, are connected somehow to such a record- a daily record or report of what we do.

(Allameh Eghbal Lahuri; is of opinion that:

``Sleep is a light death, and death is a heavy sleep.   TRANSLATOR'S NOTE)

If our span of life, and the appointed term is not finished yet, then in the wake up of the morning God leaves our soul to turn back to his material house which is the body; and so it goes on until we fulfill the term of our life which is appointed for this earth.

Then there comes the turn of the other one of the twin brothers, whom we call death. By death our soul is taken by God for good, and in accompany with the longer record of our deeds throughout our life.

After that there comes the Resurrection Day and God's final judgement; followed by the beginning of our everlasting life, that we live either in Paradise or Hell!
