Verses 163-166Verses 167-169

VERSE NO. 163 - 166

In a general statement, the verse states that inspiration has been inspired in many apostls, some of whom have been named and introduced by the Holy Quran, and some have not been mentioned therein.

Inspiration is not necessarily sending down a book.

It rather implies a supernatural influence which qualifies an apostle to receive and communicate Divine truth.

That which has been inspired to Mohammad S.A., and to the other apostles mentioned here, like Nuh, Moses, Jesus, Abraham and else, are all of the same kind and the same nature, and their origin and main source is the infinite knowledge of God the All-knowing substance.

There are some notes here to be considerd with a special care and attention:-

1-The phrase :- ``We inspired in you, as we inspired in Nuh, Abraham,....''implies that, whatever of good and useful had previously been inspired in the apostles, have all been inspired again to Mohammad S.A. who is the seal and the last of the prophets. In another word; what -ever of goodness, virtue, knowledge and wisdom had been given to all the prophets collectively, it has completely been given to Mohammad S.A. alone.

2- Here we read that the Psalms which is a Divine Book, has been given to David. This is contrary to, and rejects the faith that only divine Books were given to the five arch prophets; (Nuh, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad S.A. ) because David who was not among the arch prophet, did receive a Book from the heaven.

3- TRIBES OF ISRAEL were twelve which made up the confederacy of Israel. The oldest list of them is found in the Bible- GENESIS 49; 1-27, and are represented as individuals who were all sons of Jacob. Their names are: 1- REUBEN. 2- SIMEON. 3-LEVI. 4- JUDAH. 5- ZEBULUN. 6- ISSACHAR. 7- DAN. 8- GUD. 9- ASHER. 10- NAPHTALI. 11- JOSEPH. 12- BENJAMINE.

The levites became a purely religious group acting as priests, without permanent occupation of land.

4-The nature of inspiration to the prophets has been different:- ``Some of them received it by induction in their heart and minds. Some of them heard a voice that was created. To some of them the angels personified and incarnated, and spoke face to face and ear to ear. Among them, Moses could hear the voices created by God which for the first time a fire attracted him towards a bush in the holy land of Sinai. There the angel of lord appeared to him as a flame, (EXODUS-3:2) coming from the middle of a tree! The bush was on the fire but it was not burning. Then the lord called Moses from the middle of the bush and said:``O, Moses! I am your lord God! Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground:''

Also, on the sacred mountain Sinai God spoke to Moses through a piece of cloud(EXODUS-34:5) and hence the title of -MOSES THE INTERLOCUTOR has been given to him by Muslims, which means:-``THE APOSTLE TO WHOM GOD SPOKE.''
