Verses 44-45Verses 46-49

VERSES NO. 44-45

This refers to the conversation of those who live in Paradise and the inhabitants of the Hell. It also implies that the two parties can converse and speak to each other from where they are:

``The companions of Paradise will call the inhabitants of the Hell, saying; `We found true the promises of our Lord. What about you? Did you too, find them true?''

The next verse introduces the oppressors who were cursed in the Hell as:

``Those who barred the road to Allah and sought to make it crooked.''

They are the faithless, unrighteous persons who believe not in final judgement and final goal. Instead of paving the way to God for people to move on, they bar the road and hinder from going on in the path of truth which is straight. They want it crooked and seek to define any truth in some way that may suit their fancies and crooked ideas. They have no faith in the life to come, and in the Day of Doom, and so they encounter with it suddenly and at once, unprepared, and astonished!
