DON'T WAIT FOR EQUALITY OF FORCES (VERSES NO. 65 - 66)

In the first sight, winning against odds of ten to one might appear a strange, fearful, and inapplicable order that an officer may give to his soldiers; but the case with man of faith is different. A believer knows no failure in his sacred fight for the cause of God (Jihad). A disbeliever may fight for the territory or trade, for vengeance or glory, and his goal is not beyond this temporal and material world. It is all about the wordly affairs. Even he might have been forced or salaried to attend the war. On the other hand, a believer in Jihad, sincerely fights for the defence of faith and God's Law and Cause. Whether he wins or dies in the fight, the cause for which he strives still remains. The man of faith in his fight, is sure that, he will receive Divine Aids. If he overcomes, he will enjoy the fruits of the victory they earn; and if he is martyred, his reward is with his Lord in the form of eternal life - Paradise, and more, of the consent and pleasure of Allah. On the other hand, those who take up arms against God's Message and Messenger, are the fools who play with the tail of a wild lion, or their play toy is the burning fire! The foundation on which they construct their palace of hopes and desires, is not stronger than spider's web!

Therefore it can easily be understood from the two verses; (No. 65- 66) and particularly of the latter, that; winning agaist odds of ten to one, is not a predictive assertion. It rather is an imperative sentence, and an expressive command.

In the second verse, the commandment has exceptionally been lightened, and mitigated to some lower degrees of odds of two to one. This was an exception due to some weakness that Muslims had at the beginning of their warfares. As an instance, in the battle of Badr, they had weak organization. They were ill equipped. They lacked war experience, and had no cavalry at all. So were they asked to grapple no more than against odds of two to one, and yet they did win the battle, in spite of being one third of the enemy in numbers!
