CAUSE OF THE REVELATION VERSE NO. 93Verses 94-96

COMMENTS

      As to those who have passed away, and as to those who have not heard of the prohibition verse, their account is made clear here, and there is no blame on them for what they have drunk in the past, if they repent and amend themselves by avoiding and abstaining on account of their faith in Allah, and to do good afterward to compensate their shortcomings.

      The triple repetition here, might be an stress and emphasis on the importance of the injunction. Each of the three piety and avoidance belongs to a stage of God fearing or God knowing. The first might be the stage of faith and confession of belief in God, for the general acknowledgment of sinfulness.

      The second stage is guarding ourselves from evil, by driving our faith in God, deeper into our hearts or conscience.

      And the third stage is doing deeds of righteousness according to our deep faith in Allah and His control and Judgements.
