THOSE WHOSE COVENANT IS RESPECTABLE (VERSE NO. 3)THE GREATER PILGRIMAGE

VERSE NO. 4

The one sided dissolution of treaty obligations, is the fruit of the idolater's behaviour, that they frequently broke their treaties, and teacherously violated the term and conditions of their covenant. This was where the fulfilment of all obligations connected with an agreement was a principle, and a sacred duty in Muslim belief and ethics. So what could be done with those infidels, who abused the principles by violating their obligations while they expected their opposite party to do their parts? Therefore, as to those from among them who were dutiful and observed their obligations, they are dealt with differently:

``Excepting those of the idolaters with whom you made covenant, and they have not failed you in aught, and that they do not help anyone against you - So fulfil with them their covenant up to their term, that Allah loves the righteous.''

In such a case, a Muslim should be faithful to his covenant, and keep on with its term and conditions, as a part of his religious duties to God.
