WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?Verses 27-29

VERSE NO. 26

In answer to Moses, the Lord said:-

``They shall be forbidden to enter this land for forty years. During this period, they have to wander about, homeless on this wilderness. So grieve you not for these vicious people.''

This privation of forty years, was not a matter of vengeance on the part of God. It was a matter of training and development. The Israelites who toiled, and starved for years, under the pressures and oppressions of Pharaoh, and his cruel Egyptains, had lost their self and soul, and were filled with contempt, and painful emotion marked by alarm, and various psychological complexes. It was therefore difficult for them to change attitude or mentalities. So they were condemned to wander for years in that uninhibited and uncultivated waste till they all gradually annihilated and passed away, giving their place to a new generation to come and do what was to be done.
