VERSE NO. 37

      In this verse a wrong custom of the pagan Arabs, on account of the Sacred Months has been criticized, which is their play with the Sacred Month by transposition and changing their relative and usual place and order. This trick of them was technically termed, `NASSIE'

      They meddled with the old- established custom of observing the prohibited months, so as to make their attacks upon their enemy lawful in the forbidden times! They changed or postponed one of the months as suited them, and thus they made a prohibited month like an ordinary one for warfare purposes, and to get unfair advantages over the enemy who would hesitate to fight them.

      So also with such transpositions of the Sacred Months, they upset the security of pilgrimage which is performed in one of the four months. (ZULHAJJEH)
