THE FIRST MURDER ON THE EARTH. VERSE NO.27

From now on, the sad event of Adam's two sons has been narrated, so that one of them killed the other. The relation and similarity of Adam's son, and the Israelites previously narrated, lays in the jealousy, which was the bad character of both parties, leading the Jews to rebel and disobedience, and Adam's son to murder!

``And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons truthfully when they each made an offering...''

The phrase; `recite to them the story in truth', may imply that in the ancient Scriptures the incident has been perverted to some extent, and has some ambiguities, and includes not any lesson now to be enforced.

The Holy Quran has not mentioned the names of Adam's sons at all; but according to some Islamic tradition; the young son, who was a righteous Godfearing, was named HطBIL= Engligh ABEL. The elder son of Adam, who was puffed up with arrogance and jealousy, was called Cain, who killed his brother.

As to the question that, what kind of offering did the two brother offer? Quran has not mentioned that, but the Bible, in the book of GENESIS 14 has narrated:-

``Abel was a shephered and Cain was a farmer. Abel brought the first and the best sheep that he had, and offered it to God; but Cain offered some of (the worst) of his harvest.'' Anyhow; the sacrifice of Abel was accepted, and the offering of Cain, whatever it might have been, was rejected, and roused him to anger and jealousy, by which he killed his younger brother.

According to the above Quranic narration, Cain at first swore that he would kill Abel. But the younger brother advised him and said:- `If your offering has been rejected, it is not my fault. It is the Lord's general rule, that He only accepts from the virtuous persons. So, if you do fulfill your threat of killing me; I will not try to do the same to you, because by taking my life, you will have to carry the load of my sins upon your own, and the recompense of the oppressors, and the wrong doers, as our Lord has promised, will certainly be the Fire of Hell.''

The lesson that we may take out of this narration is that, the same kind of jealousy that misled Cain to kill his brother, existed in the Israelites who tried to kill their brother, Jesus Christ, and also existed in the Jews and Pagans, contemporary of Mohammad Mostafa, S.A. who did their best to kill the prophet, but failed. It also may exist in others throughout the course of future and lead millions of people to Fire instead of salvation.
