Verse 18Verse 19

VERSE NO. 18

Quran strictly rejects all sorts of false advantages, and exclusiveness that people may hold for themselves without any right. The Jews and Christians, claim to be the sons of God, God's elects, and His beloved ones, without any cause or reason. Quran rejects their idea of sonship, or being exclusive as beloved and elects or else, because God is independent of any physical relationship or exclusive partiality with His creatures. According to Quranic verses:- (S 49: 13)

``The most honoured of men in the sight of God is the most virtuous ones.''

To cross off such false advantages, and exclusiveness, the verse objects:-

``Why then does God punish you for your sins?''

That is to say; you are merely men as any other ones of the kind that God has created, and are subject to the general law of creation and nature, through which God may forgive whoever shows a merit for His pardon, and will punish those who really deserve God's punishment, and the eventual home coming and final return is to Him.
