It is not so that all the children of Israel are disobedient to God, and do evil: ``And from the folk of Moses there are a group of people who guide others to the truth, and by that they do justice. These were those who did not follow Samaritan, and did not worship the gold calf, or any other idol.'' As the verb `THEY GUIDE' is in present tense, it may imply that in the life time of our prophet too, there were some of them who followed the right path of God, and were just and moderate in their manner and behaviour. In the next verse reference is made to the Jewish history, and to some of the bounties of God that were bestowed on them. It points at their race and the twelve tribes of Israelites who were the Offsprings of Jacob's twelve sons: ``We divided them into twelve Tribes, each of which increased to a nation.'' Then the verse alludes to the prayer of Moses for water and the twelve springs that he miraculously made to gush out from a rock. This event is cited also in Quran S2: 60 and there we gave the necessary detail. Please refer to volume 1 - page 85 of this book for further information.
