Verses 72-75JIHAD AND EMIGRATION

FOUR DIFFERENT GROUPS OF MUSLIMS (VERSES NO. 72 - 75)

These verses which are the last ones of the chapter of spoils, make a mention of four groups of Muslims, as follows:

      1- The primeval emigrants.

      2- The helpers in Medina.

3- Those who believed but they did not emigrate.

4- Those who believed and emigrated afterwards.

The first group are introduced as having four main qualifications namely: 1) Faith. 2) Emigration. 3) Economical Strive. 4) Personal Sacrifice.

They forsook their home and hearth, and adopted voluntary exile. They took part in Jihad, and voluntarily suffered death for refusing to renounce their religion. They sacrificed their life and whatever was dear to them, for the cause of Allah, and for the sake of principles.

And so was the case with the second group of Muslims who are known as the Helpers. They provided for the emigrants shelter, food and comfort. They gave the refugees all sorts of assistance to stand once again on their own foot. Under the leadership of their beloved prophet, the two groups of Helpers and Emigrants, became like blood- brother.

The third group of Muslims that are discussed here, were those believers who were not strong enough to suffer Emigration, and to cut off from their kith and kin, and to make personal sacrifices, which the other ardent believers made.

However these Muslims too, were believers, and were entitled to assistance from the Emigrants and helpers in the matter of religion.

When the devils befriend devils, and help each other ardently; the good ones have more reasons to join in a sincere friendship and spiritual brotherhood; or else, the land and community will be corrupted, and God's justice and Law will not reign:

``Those who disbelieve are the friends of one another. So if you believers too, do not do it, there will be tumult and great corruption in the land.''
