THE CONFESSIONVerses 36-37

VERSE NO. 35

Misuse of wealth and resources is frequently condemned by the Holy QURAN. Here by gold and silver, money, dear and cheap, is meant.

Money which is nowadays supported by gold, silver and other precious things, is the economical blood in the body of population, and therefore it must circulate all the time in the veins of society, in order to get access to a sound and safe economy. To hoard or bury wealth and amass it for its own sake, is a great sin in the sight of Islam and is strictly condemned. Wealth must not be wasted for idle purposes, or left untouched and stored up uselessly. It should be spent and used for the good of the owner and the society. If not so, the treasurer must expect an awful punishment from the treasure's real owner who is the Lord God. Misuse of wealth according to the above verse, will have a striking penalty, and the hoarded treasure itself becomes an evidence against the treasurer.

The gold and silver hoarded and hidden will be red heated in Hell, to brand the treasurer on the forehead as mark of infamy.

According to Shiite jurisprudence, if a man regularly pays his due alms-taxes and becomes rich alms paid, the above verse does not apply to him. If it was absolutely unlawful for man to become wealthy, there would be no room for the Laws and rules of heritage, which are so detailed in the Holy Quran. Therefore, unlawful, is collecting unlawful wealth, and misusing it, or using it for ideal purposes, or not useing it in the proper and lawful way.
