Verse 74Verses 75-79

VERSE NO. 74

This chapter, generally argues about Monotheism and polytheism, and therefore reference is made here to ABRAHAM, the champion of Monotheism, who also owns the title of, `IDOL BREAKER'.

ABRAHAM, as this verse implies severely admonished his father and blamed his people for their idolatry, saying: ``I see all of you in manifest error.''

And indeed he was right in his assertion; for who is more erring than the man who worships his own hand made creature instead of his creator!?

Most of Sonni commentators have taken the Arabic word ABIH, to mean his real father. This is because AB generally is taken for father in Arabic language.

On the other hand, almost all SHITE Commentators have taken AB, to mean either the uncle here or the father in law. Anyhow, with their various reasoning no Shiite believes that ABRAHAM'S father could have been an idolater.
