THE RUBBISH TALKS (VERSE NO. 31)VERSES NO. 33 - 35

VERSE NO. 32

This verse implies that some of the pagan could not prove the least amount of truth in this Divine Message given to Mohammad S.A., and a hundred precent knew it to be false and untrue; or else, they would not have dared to have such a foolish request from the Creator of the universe and themselves! saying:

``O, God! If this is true from you, then rain upon us stones from the sky; or bring on us a painful punishment!'' This could have also been a challenge thrown out by the infidels in Mecca - not seriously but as a taunt!

And the Compassionate Merciful Lord, looks upon our foolish request with His infinite Graceful care and Mercy! saying:

``I won't punish you when my Messenger is among you who, works hard for your conversion and to change your minds; and I will not punish you when there are some of you who beg my pardon, and want to amend and develop.''

As a matter of fact, God punishes in His own good time, and not according to the foolish and frivolous taunts of the unbelievers. God's mill grinds slowly, but sure.

The verse may also be taken in its general sense of meaning, that, God does not want to close the door of penitence and forgiveness upon His servants, and debar them from amending and development. There is a tradition narrated from Hazrat Imam Ali (AS), who said:

``There were two means of immunity from the punishment of God on the earth. One was the presence of His Messenger that has been taken away. The second one which is still left, is the repentance, to which you may resort and hold it fast.
