THE EVERLASTING ENEMIES (VERSE NO. 14)

Here reference is to the breach of God's covenant by those who call themselvesNASطRط or Christians. They too, had a covenant with Allah not to deviate from the straight path of Monothesim, and not to worship any thing or any body else other than God, and not to cover and conceal the signs of the Last of the prophets and the seal of the Apostles Mohammad S.A., whose signs and marks they find in their GOSPELS.

The Arabic, NASطRط translated here to `Christians' has its root in the word`NASR' meaning `HELP' and it might have been taken from the verse, QURطN S 61: 14 : ``O you who believe! Be you Helpers of Allah, as Jesus the son of Mary said to his disciples; who will help me in my way to Allah? and the Helpers (HIS DISCIPLES)said:- `We are Allah's Helpers...''

Therefore the title NASطRط given to the Christians might have come from the above verse, and means those who help God and Jesus Christ.

In the lifetime of our prophet, the same title was given to the converts of Medina, who helped the prophet and the immigrant Muslims to their town.

The verse (No. 14) then states the consequence of the Christians breach of their covenant with God, is an eternal and everlasting enmity between the Jews and the Christians.
