CAUSE OF THE REVELATION VERSES NO. 94-96Verses 97-99

GAME'S INJUNCTION IN THE GARB

These verses consist of the injunction forbidding to hunt when a pilgrim is in his Holy Garb:-

``Allah has put you to test by the immense number of games that were well within the reach of your lances, and even your hands, in order to make known who fears God in his private affairs, and in secret.''

Then through the next verse (No. 95) hunting a game has been strictly forbidden when a pilgrim has his Holy white Garb on, saying:-

``O, Believers! Kill no game while you are in the pilgrim Garb.'' Then there has an expiation been settled for the breach, because, if someone deliberately breaks that injunction, it may mean that he has no faith and reverence, and that to him a game is dearer than God's commandments. The penalty for the breach is in three alternative - either an equivalent domestic animal, in value, as judged by two men of justice, should be brought to Kaaba for sacrifice.''

According to the jurisconsults, an example of this is such that:- ``If someone in the Holy Garb of pilgrimage hunts an Ostrich, he should bring a camel to Kaaba to be offered as the sacrifice.

The second alternative is to feed the poor either with food or with money, comparing with the value of the domestic animal which should have been sacrificed, and in the third alternative, the offender must fast as many days, as the number of the poor who would have been fed under the second alternative.'' Anyhow, the offender has to taste the evil consequences of his affairs.

If it was lawful for the hundreds of millions of pilgrims, who enter the Sacred Precinct of Kabba each year, to hunt and to cut trees and plants; in a short time the whole environment would be destroyed, and hence the importance of such injunctions and penalties.
