VERSES NO. 194 - 195

These two verses are complementary to the previous ones. Here with the help of four reasons, the idols as well as the deified men, who are treated as an object of supreme regard, are attacked, and their inablility is emphasized:

``Those whom you invoke besides Allah are servants like yourselves.''

They have no existence or any power of their own, independant of God's creation and authority. When they cannot help themselves, how can they help other people?! They too, have a body, and are chained by time and space and gravity, and all of them are subject to material and natural laws. Their length of life, power, and faculties are all limited, and have no advantage over you.

Then the false gods, fetishes, and deified men are challenged in a test: ``Call on them and they should answer you, if what you say is true.''

Being sure that they are merely created creatures, and the idolatries and polytheism are based only on superstitious ideas; and that they can do nothing against the will, control, and authority of God; the prophet says:

O.K. If you are right and truthful in what you say, then call your associates, and scheme against me, and let them do their worst, and give me no respite.''

Today after fifteen centuries we can easily and rightly judge that the prophet was indeed right, and his oppositions were wrong.
