VERSE NO. 180

      If we could know God to some extent that our faculties and abilities permit; in defining His wonderful creations, inventions, arts, Mercy, Grace, Beauties, and after all His freedom of want, and our poverty and indigence; We had to seek the most beautiful names and the most excellent terms that one may think, in order to explain and express His attributes.

      More than a hundred beautiful names are cited for God in the Holy Quran, and in some Islamic traditions there is a selection of ninety nine names, that are known to be the most beautiful ones, and becoming, to His sacred Essence and Attributes. Among these names are:

      ``Allah- Merciful - Compassionate - Forgiver- All mighty- Omnipotent- All knowing- All clement- Lord- Cherisher- Creator- Guardian- Sustainer and etc.''

      We mention some of His names as a part of our prayers, praise, and supplications.

      Through the verse, we are warned to profane the names of God, and not to use any term derogatory to His sacred attributes and essence.

      All the names of God can be divided in two groups: One group of them imply that Allah is free of any sort of want, and He is all self- sufficient. The second group of names imply the need of His creatures and their dependance upon their Lord and Creator.
