This is an allegory of a good godly men, and his opposite counterpart, a bad and godless one; the sheer example of whom are Hazrat HAMZEH and ABUJAHL both of them with their Divine and Devil mission:

      Is he who was dead and We made him alive equal to...''

      The former godly example, before his conversion and obtaining a new spiritual life, was no better than a dead. This implies that faith is not merely a simple idea or notion that is expressed verbally. It is rather a new spirit blown in a dead heart and mind which influences all the limbs and parts of the body. The eye gets a new line of sight. The ear can detect a wider spectrum of voices. The tongue becomes sweet and eloquent, and the limbs move with a new power! In fact the convert will have a new life and an exciting world by his faith in God, and His Message of truth.

      To have such a faith and its consequent life will not entirly depend on man's endeavour, but rather on God's. By God's Grace the spiritual life is granted to man, with a bright light by which he can walk in a truthful path ending to prosperity and salvation. Such a new born person may also guide other people by the light given him, if they are willing to follow the light of God. A man of god, sees all things through the glorious light of Allah.

      In contrast to the mentioned godly man or woman, is the evil doer who abhors the light of God, and therefore he struggles in the depths of many thick layers of different kinds of darkness! In the verse under discussion, the light of God is in the singular form while the darkness is plural! This is because spiritual death will lead man to various darknesses which are one above the other, or one besides the other, or sometimes one after the other. On the other hand the light of God is a single fact.

      So, can these two kinds of said men be compared to each other? And are light and dark, alive and dead, knowledge and ignorance, good and bad comparable?!
