Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 22-29Verses 30-33

Moses did his best to guide Pharaoh and his folk to the way of justice and truth, but without any effect. They began to persecute the believers and even Moses and his brother, so he had no other way but to curse them:-

``Then Moses called his Lord saying:- ``My Lord! These are a sinful people.''

Moses was so polite that he did not ask Allah to do this or that to his intrusive foes, and sufficed with they are sinful a people.

His plea was answered, and Allah ordered him to take the believers, be they Egyptians or Israelites, out under the cover of night, so that the king's host may pursue, with a view to overtake them.

So did Moses plan for his great escape that, the king and his host could follow them with some delay.

When Moses confronted with Nile, and per order of his Lord he struck the sea by his famous stick. The sea divided in two parts, and a gap or a path was made between the two huge mountain like mass of water!

Pharaoh and his hosts reached there when the last of the believers had passed over through the gap.

Moses held the sea divided with the gap in between, in order to entice the king and to drown them on by exciting the hope of reaching and catching the Israelites. When the king and his followed were trapped in the gap. The sea closed in, and all of them were drowned, leaving behind all their treasures, palaces, and enjoyable things.

They all died without any one to moan and weep for them. Pharaoh had called himself their Supreme god, but when he and his followers were drowning by the true God's justice, none of them could help the other. They all died so dreadfully, and not the sky , neither the earth, wept for them; nor were they respited an instant!
