Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 77-79Verse 80

Almost all the expounders of Qurän have narrated that one of the Arab polytheists took a piece of decayed bone of man, and went to dispute with our prophet, saying:-

``...Who can give life again to this bone which is decayed?''

Then the prophet by God's inspiration answered:-

``He will give it life again who originated it for the first time, and Who has the knowledge of all kinds of creation.''

Here, Qurän takes our hand and leads us to the begining of our creation, when we were a valueless drop of sperm. Then we are asked to consider the various stages of our development and evolution:-

Our creation originated from clay; then it turned to sperm; the sperm was made a piece of clot; and the clot was changed to a lump, of which the bones were made; and the bones were clothed and covered with flesh. then after all, when the physical creation was finished, a new kind of creation which is spiritual began to be added to the body; a divine spirit or power was breathed into the foetus. Thus a creature was created who is called man, and who is something different from all kinds of animal

And how foolish, and how wonderful, that when the said drop of sperm was develop and became a man, he turned to an open opponent against his own Creator!? The man with all his pride, vanity, and brag, is still helpless in many occasionsِas helpless and poor as the sperm drop is!

He was granted faculties to understand the wonders of creation, but he focused all his attention to the manger, as the cattle do! He forgot his personality and lost it and disputes with his CreatorِMerciful and All-knowing Creator!

Now Man wants to know and measure the Creator of the Infinite Univers with the criterions and units of his own limited life and power! Thus, at best, he may prove two horns for God, as a cow may think his God hasِof course two very big horns! So do our Christian brothers think when they think of, ``GOD IN FLESH!'' Through utter ignorance, man associates with God compeers of persons or personified idols, of equal status or power, which are nothing more than carved stones or poor deified men and women!

To prove his ignorance he struck a similitude for his Great Gracious God, and forgetting his own creation said:-

``Who can give life again to this piece of decayed bone?''

And the prophet gave him a knocking down answer by God's instruction saying:-

``Forgetting his own creation he said who can... say; He will give it life who originated it for the first time; and Who has the knowledge of every kind of creation.''

If today there is a remainder of the man in the form of some bones, at the beginning there was nothing at all. Had he not forgotten his own creation from the origin which was nothing, he would not ask such a childish question which arises from doubt about the power and ability of God.

How foolish of man to compare God with man and animal, and strike similitude, saying, ``Who can raise the dead, or give it life again?''

If man is taken to be parallel with his limited power in this instance, of course he can do nothing, unless that limitless Holy Spirit may want him to do something.

But the first creation which was made only with the power of God, and had not any other base like the bones was more difficult if Man's sight and knowledge has to judge that.

It is difficult, and even we may say impossible for man, to evaluate the power and the laws with which God's Creative Artistry, creates the universe. He has His own power and rules for creation, and when He wants to create something new or old, He only says, ``BE'' and, ``IT IS''!

He even does not need to utter the command, ``BE'' and enough is for the purpose to intend it to be done, and it will be done. Such a rule is unknown in the limited natural world of man. The cause of being for anything is only God's intention! What can we know of such kind of a power? He only wills something and it appears as it should! We therefore should not set imaginary limits to Allah's Power and Knowledge.
