Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 21-22Verses 23-26

In this passage the door is addressed, but the wall has to hear: Allah tells His Messenger and the Messenger's follower has to listen to it:-

``Have you not seen that Allah sent down water from the sky, and passed it through the earth in order to pile up a life giving source.''

Then by the providence, crops of diverse colours-odours-and taste, are createed from a colourless and odorless material. This may mean that all the plants, trees and animal, without having a known tongue and language, celebrate the praise of God by their nature. This glorification continues until their appointed term and time is over. They wither, and pass awayِpass away to another form of a being which most probably is more valuable than before.

In the above verse the nature of water is referred to, which begins from the sea by evapuration- raising up- turning to clouds-moving here and there- raining down in drops, hails, or snow- passing through the earth, and eventually making a source or reaching te sea again. This wonderful cycle is a remarkable Illustration of God's power, wisdom, knowledge, providence, and mercy.

If the cycle would stop circling, and repeated not; almost all the creatures could not have access to water, which is the main source of life, and there could be no creature and no vegetation upon the earth.

Following the great lesson of Monotheism there comes a comparison between the faithless, and the faithful:-

``Is then he whose breast Has Allah expanded for Islam, who is upon a light from his Lord...the like of...''

The Divine Inspiration, when comes down to the heart of a believer or non-believer is similar to the rain fall upon a fertile or a barren land. One may make use of the Mercy and Grace of God when it rains down, who has already prepared himself to undergo this sacred shower, and welcome it. How can drops of rain penetrate a land which is hard and rocky? How can a salty barren land produce fruits of diverse colour and odour and tastes?:-

``Then woe to them for the hardness of their hearts against the remembrance of Allah.''

Those who submit to Allah and obey His orders; God will take care of them, and expand their breasts, increasing their spiritual power and understanding, so that they can tread the path of truth and righteousness easier. These are not to be compared with, those whose hearts are blind, and receive not God's vital enlightment.
