Verses 62-70Verses 71-74

Following the mention of God's blessings in Paradise, the reference is now to some painful torments in the Hell:-

``Is that better a welcome, or the ZAGH-GHUM tree?''

``Zagh-ghum'' has been described as a bitter and pungent tree, the fruit of which is in the terrible shape of a devil's head! It grows at the bottom of Hell.

The pagan Arabs were acquainted with a plant named ZAGH-GHUM before the advent of the Glorious Qurän. It was a herb that grew in TAHÄMEH, with small leaves, a bitter taste, and unpleasant scent. Its juice made the skin to swell up.

Zaghum literally means any detestable food. Whatever it is, the inhabitants of the Hell will have to serve it for food, and when it is served, they become thirsty for which they have nothing but some unpure boiling water to satisfy them!

The ending of the above passage points to the cause of such a horrible fate in Hell:- ``Their fathers were in error, and they followed their fathers blind folded and in haste!''
