Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 16-23Verses 24-32

The argument still continues about the next life and resurrection day. The non-believers say:- ``This is incredible that a dead who has turned to dust and bones to become alive once again!''

They say so, while they are sure that once upon a time they themselves were dusts alone, and not bones; but now they live!

We usually take things for granted. As an instance, the phenomenon of sleep and wakefulness has become so familiar to us that we can no longer appreciate its full value and importance, while as a matter of fact every night we die and every morning we come to life again, if we could only consider it properly!

Materialists deny that we might have any kind of a life with intelligence, beyond the grave.

On the other hand, the believers hold that, life is so important a matter, that this short probational term on this globe, and then the grave, cannot be its object and destination.

By the above verses we are assured that the future life is a solid fact, and there really is a Resurrection Day and a Final Judgement of justice.

In that Day of Doom, people are sorted out, and the virtuous is separated from the guilty.

To make it short, Qurän frankly and seriously says to the materialists:-

``Yes, of course! All the deads shall be raised up, and you sinners and non-believers have to answer for your deeds and wrong estimation, and will be led to the path of Hell.''

In the verse No.22, the wives to the oppressors are also summoned, if they too are oppressors like their husbands.

The wives are separately mentioned in the verse because the Arabic phrase for, ``THOSE WHO OPPRESSED'' is of masculine gender. If both of the spouses are wrong doers, everyone of them is in pledge of their own deeds, and they will not carry the burden of one another.
