Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 31-33Verses 34-38

Here some of the painful sceneries of Dooms Day, have been clearly illustrated of which, good lessons may be taken. It begins with the pagan's assertions:-

``And those who have disbelieved will say:- ``We shall never believe in this Qurän, nor in the scriptures that have been sent before it.''

By the Arabic, ``LAN'' translated to, ``NEVER'', they meant:- If you warn us and admonish us up to the end of the world, we are not going to believe you and follow what you say. We will never believe in your Qurän, nor the Scriptures that were sent to Jews and Christians before it. Therefore, by the non-believers in the above verse (NO.31), Pagan Arabs are pointed to.

Then a stage of the final judgement has been illustrated in which sinners and oppressors, are banding words and exchange charges on one another:-

``And if you could only see when, the oppressors are held before their Lord...the weak will say to the haughty...''

Mohammad (SA) was encountered by a group of illiterate and pagans of the Arabs, who were almost all unlearned and unrefined. They knew nothing of the Scriptures, or any other book. To them Qurän and any revelation that had come before it were all the same and of not any use.

On the other hand, the people of the book, concealed their knowledge of revelation from the non-Jews whom they called, ``GENTILES''.

By Gentiles they had the assumption of heathens-pagans-or ignorants, who did not have the merit of being a Jew or a Christian! So they despised Arabs who were gentiles in their sight, but tenderly misled and exploited them! Thus the Arabs, in spite of living with the People of the Book, they remained unaware of Divine Books and Revelations, until the advent of Mohammad (SA).

It was something natural then, for the pagan Arabs, to say to the people of the Book in a court of JUSTICE; you who had previous revelation misled us and urged us to stand up against our Lord, and His Messenger and Message, because you were already acquainted with such things. So were you the Main cause of our disbelief, and thus bandying words with one another will begin in the court of God.

Although the pagans are more truthful in their assertions than the People of the Book to some extent, but to be just enough, misleaders and misled are both responsible for their deeds.

Those who want to exploit the weak and other people, will want them void of wisdom, knowledge, and education, because the exploited body should work for them for their power, without asking questions, just as an ass, who works so hard, and eats so cheap, without any question or any objection.

The other lesson that we may take from the above verses is this; that, one must repent, before the doors of repentance are closed on him:-

``...And when they see the punishment they conceal their penitence, but We place chains around their necks.''
