Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 10-14Verses 15-20

These verses begin with the incident of Man's resurrection, and expressively explain the condition of the sinners in the life to come. Here the phrase, ``LOST IN THE EARTH'' alludes to the state of the body, which will decompose in the grave, resolving into constituent parts and elements, and disperses throughout the soil; so that nothing is left to be seen. Those who deny the Infinite power and knowledge of our Lord, are not contented that God will give them a new creation through death.

In the next verse (NO.11) there is an answer as to what will happen to us after we die:-

``Say; the angel of death who has been made in-charge of you will take you back, then you shall be returned to your Lord.''

Here the Arabic, ``YATAVAFFACOM'' means to take something back, and it does not mean annihilation or non-existent. The angels will take or receive the soul which is the main object and the principle of Man's being. So they will take it to a new living world that suits him.

True that in the sight of Islam the Final Resurrection will be with material body, but the principle of Man's being is not matter and material, it rather is his spirit, and spiritual part.

Even the material body of man may decompose, and then disperse and spread here and there as elements or molecules, but it never reduces to nothingness, and non-existent.

The materialists and non-believers dogmatically insist on their assertion, that, there cannot be a life after death. But Qurän teaches us that death is not that which the materialists define. It is of surety a new creation:-

``They said:- ``When we are lost in the earth by our death shall we be in a new creation!?''

Such a doubt is due to their disbelief in their Lord. Some of them may think that when God created them, He would leave them alone and Has nothing more to do with them! They deny any kind of encounter of Man with his Creator! Such are those skeptics who are given to doubting against their own professed principles. As a matter of fact, our death is our second birth-day, and the angel of death like a midwife will be the recipient of our soul to deliver it to the new world, (BARZAKH) under the care of our Graceful Lord.
