In the worldly sight of the non-believers wealth and rank was the criterion for values and merits for Man, upon which they could fill their appraisal forms. How then their God's elect and chosen prophet could be an orphan, brought up by ABUTALIB, and a poor man as Mohammad was!?
They said to one another:- ``In spite of so many wealthy and influential men in Mecca and Täif, on what account or basis, God has elected him as his
Messenger!? If such a gift had to come among them, the chiefs, like ABUSOFYÄN, deserved it much more than Mohammad (SA).''
What they called it to be a value was of no value when compared with God's Grace and Mercy, did they not know that it is God who divides His bounties among His servants and none the else?
In ordeeer to knock down such unbecoming thoughts and mentalities, Qurän answers:-
``Do they divide the Mercy of your Lord?''
Of course Allah knows the best by whom should He convey His Message.
They had forgotten that Man is a social animal and to control his social life, needs cooperation and mutual assistance. Such a community is in need of all sorts of skill and craftsmanship. Therefore some people should be able to employ some other. A doctor may employ a carpenter, and a mason should be able to employ a physician. So all the individuals of the society are the small parts of a large machine, and all of them help one another for the same general object. All of them need each other, and job evaluation must always prevail and be effectual in all sections of the whole community.
