Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 55-60Verses 1-5

Here in the above verses, the reference might be to the life and staying time in the Intermediate World; in which some people live in awareness and with intelligence, and some other live as if in sleep. When they get up in the Resurrection Day, they think to have tarried only for a couple of hours, like the seven sleepers. We may also say that the above verses imply the relativity of time, that may delude all except those who are endowed with knowledge. This is why some will swear to show that they are sure enough, that they tarried not in the intermediate world except one hour! But those with knowledge and faith, will know that they have tarried an unknown length of time and upto the Resurrection Day, although they too, do not know the real time.

Anyhow, when the sinners find themselves in a critical condition of the Dooms Day, they begin to beg pardon and show penitence, but the excuses of those who have oppressed will not profit them for being too late. They also try to put the blame on Satans, or their leaders and relers, but such excuses will avail them nothing. In that awful day, everyone is held in pledge of his own deeds.

The next verse, (NO.58) is an abstract of the whole chapter of Rome:-

``We have struck for people in this Qurän, of all kinds of similitudes.''

They will include; promises, commandments, warnings admonitions, reasons, and for Monotheism and Resurrection, news of the unseen, and whatever else is needed to cure the mental and spiritual diseases of Man. Generally Qurän is a collection of various matters that may wake up and revive man. It includes programmes for progress, and methodical ways for a good living, and an end with salvation.

The ending verse of the chapter, consists of two important instructions of being patient, and watch and take care that those who are in doubt will not waver you and lead you astray.

There is also the glad-tiding that God will Not fail His promise of being obligated to help the believers.

THE END OF SUREH ROME (30)
