Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 23-25FAITH & PATIENCE

Here is a brief review of the advent of Moses, in order to console the Moslems and their prophet, and also to encourage them to stand firmly in their way to truth and worship:-

``And We did give the Scriptures (TOWRÄT), to Moses. So do not doubt that Moses did receive the Scriptures from his Lord.''

Moses was given the book, (TOWRÄT) which consisted of the Law, the ten commandments, and other necessary Instructions needed to guide the Israelites.

Jesus Christ too, was given the Gospel (INJIL), that confirmed the Mosaic Law; and contained some general principles. Moses and Jesus paved the way for the most perfect Law that was sent to Mankind through Mohammad (SA). The Law is carried on by the Glorious Qurän, and it is called the, ``SHARIAT''. It is supposed to satisfy Man's need up to the Resurrection Day. Mohammad (SA) is titled the last and the seal of the prophets, and his religious methodical way, will satisfy the moral and spiritual needs of Mankind, in any time and space, up to the Day of Dooms.

As to the Arabic, ``LEGHAEHI'' translated to, ``HIS MEETING'' commentators are at variance about the noun of the pronoun, ``HI'', which may be translated either ``its'' or ``his''. There are seven issues about that. Ayatullah Makarim understands it to refer to the Bible, (TOWRÄT), the Book that was sent down to Moses. He therefore construes it to mean:- ``O, Mohammad! Do not be in doubt that Moses received the Holy Scriptures from your Lord.''

Some other commentators are of opinion that, the Arabic ``LEGHÄ'' might be from the root word, ``ELGHÄ'' or ``TALAGHI'' which means to induce and inspire. From this stand point, the pronoun will refer to Moses and the sentence therefore means:-

``O, Mohammad! Do not doubt that you will meet with Moses.'' And the promised meeting occured in Mohammad's ascension to heavens. In that night journy, he met with Moses and Jesus, in the Temple of Jerusalem, and also in the heavens.

Then reference is made to some of the Israelites righteous leaders, who were assigned by God to guide people:-

``And of them We assigned leaders, guiding by our commandments; when We found them to be patient and sure of our signs.''

The leaders must have two main qualifications:- Faith and Patience. Faith in God and His support and help, that will come in time, and patience in troubles and hardships.

Our prophet, at the beginning of his mission, was accused of various charges, such as being a sorcerer, a liar, a poet, and a mad! The infidels belied him and persecuted his disciples, and waged many wars against him and his followers, but he persevered with all that, and showed patience, for he believed that patience is a head for the body of faith, and God loves the patients and He is with them.

The above verse (NO.24), implies that, Allah had appointed Divine leaders to guide the Israelites by His order. The apostles like; Daniel-Ezra-Nehemiah-Job-Ezekiel-Jonah-and Zacharia, and also the kings such as Solomon, David, Jashua, guided the Israelites according to the Mosaic Law, so long as the people were faithful and obedient to their Lord!

When the conditions changed, and people broke up into sects, and fell at variances and wrangling, they lost all their dignities, and suffered national annihilation. They scattered here and there round about the globe, and it seems that they will have to remain so, up to the Resurrection Day.

Then a new nation replaced them by the name of ``ISLAM''. It confirmed and validated Mosaic real principles and tenets, and has proved that it will continue with its universal Message for All Mankind of all ages!
