Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
OCCASION OF REVELATION VERSES NO.42-44 Verse 45

QURAISH who were jealous of their Jewish and Christian citizens for their knowledge, blamed them for their deviations from the straight path of their religion and law, saying:- ``Had we received direct revelation from God, we would have been guided much better than any other of the nations.''

Then, when Mohammad (SA) was sent to them with so much signs and evidences from their Lord, they ran away as ass runs away from a lion! They did to our prophet and his sacred household, particularly to prophet's grandchildren, what vibrates the pen to breakage in writing it!

In the second verse (NO.43) more detail has been given about the aforementioned one, and causes are mentioned for the rejection of what they desired it to come.

Firstly it was their arrogance and thinking too much of themselves, which seduced them to reject the truth and secondly their evil plots and politics made them to contrive against the evident facts, which they undermind and tried to destroy, conceal, or at least turn and conform to their own vain desires.

In their foolish challenge, they were caught in their own snares, while the truth of God marched on, and on, in triumph and success.

The last of the above verses (NO.44), recommends the heathens to study and follow up the fate of those who lived before them. Among the ancients, there were people superior to them in power and wealth. They tilled the soil and populated the land in greater numbers than these who live now. There came to them warners and Messengers from their Lord, with evidences and miracles; but they rejected the truth, and their rejection caused their destruction. This is why the verse asks to travel in the earth, and study and ponder over the causes of prosperity and ruin of the past generations; that they might apprehend that God's universal law of punishment and reward will never change and the fate of the past generation is a good experience and example for the future.

The wont of our Merciful Lord has always remaind stable and without any change, because His wont is in fact the scientific laws that govern the nature, like, two by two makes four.

The Merciful and Forbearing Lord gives man a respite, enough to work and amend. He then sends admonition and warns the sinners through His known warners, and when Man bars himself from receiving God's Grace and Mercy by sinning, there appears God's Justice, followed by a sever punishment which is destructive if not amending. Man knows well that always evil comes to an evil end, and also good ends in good. He is given a Free Will to choose either a good end in the Paradise, or an evil end and doom in the Hell.
